About Michelle Adams NSA-North Texas Member of the Week for August 22, 2022
As President of Marketing Brainology, she leverages the latest research to help transform the way companies communicate to consumers. Dr. Michelle Adams expects individuals to be the ‘Intel’ and change agentinside their organizations. To affect their bottom line, she inspires others through her stories, experiences, and compelling neuroscience insights. Her enthusiasm for learning and change is contagious!
To be relevant, engaging, and create transformation within team dynamics, communication throughout organizations, and ultimately positively impacting their culture is Dr Michelle Adam’s ultimate goal.
Prior to starting Marketing Brainology over 10 years ago, she worked for Frito-Lay & PepsiCo for 10 years as VP of Customer Strategy and Shopper Insights where she consulted senior leaders from PepsiCo’s top retailers. She was 2014 Distinguished Alumni for The University of Texas at Dallas, and current board member. Michelle is a TEDx Speaker, member of the National Speakers Association, and serves on the board for the National Speakers Association of North Texas Chapter.
She has loved motivating groups to embrace new ways of thinking my whole career. While at PepsiCo, she had the opportunity to speak to the major retailers about new learnings about human behavior & brain. She leveraged some of the most innovative technologies, including eye- tracking and neuroscience, to enhance human understanding. Now as President of Marketing Brainology, she continues to champion new ways to learn about human brains by leveraging her own learnings in the neuroscience labs and field research of human behavior.
Her biggest mistake was not following her true passions. She spent 9 years for the Federal Government doing health care research, when her passion was creating big change in organizations. Though she learned from this experience, it was incremental change vs. big change.
She chose “safety” over taking a “risk.” While working for the government, she finished her Ph.D., but wasn’t able to influence the most change until she went to PepsiCo. Following our strengths and our passions…are the keys to success. She now advise others to do what they innately are gifted to do; and not what is safe for them to do.
Starting Marketing Brainoloy 10 years ago and growing the company to work with great companies has been hard, but very rewarding. She is proud of how many student interns she has been able to train and help launch their careers after they finish their college degrees.
The business expertise of members is the most valuable asset of being an NSA-NT member. Members are generously willing to share their knowledge with each other formally and informally. Though the focus is on the speaking business, the skills and knowledge being shared through meetings and labs are applicable to all businesses. She has been very inspired by the success of members and how helpful they are to newer members. She always says, "Our chapter is filled with amazing members!"
She does a lot of speaking about the male & female brain; and ironically…is a mom of 3 boys. She also grew up with 3 brothers and no sisters. Through survival tactics, she had to adjust her communication style to better adjust to her environment.
Leveraging her neuroscience labs at Marketing Brainology has been extremely helpful in understanding how males and females are wired differently. However, it doesn’t prevent human from creating new neuropathways for better communication.
