On behalf of your board of directors, we wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving! It’s my favorite time of the year when our family gets together, and we can just sit around and enjoy each other with great food and fellowship and not worry about anything else. Of course, turkey is center stage, but I’ll pass this year since I’m a vegetarian. Bring on the tofu!

 

Typically, this time of year our business starts to wind down for the holiday season. It’s a good time to reflect on this past year as to what worked well, where we can tweak our business model and the content we deliver to our clients. I have the honor of teaching “Intro to Professional Selling” this semester at UTD. One area we’ve been discussing is that of the “value” we deliver to our clients. I believe this is something we should always be evaluating. When it comes to value, we need to realize that value is in the eye of the beholder. The customer. Only the customer can tell us what is of value. It’s from their perspective not ours.

 

An equation I like to use is “Value = Benefit – Cost. When the customer perceives high value, the discussion around cost is diminished. The more benefits they can realize from the service we deliver, the more the value they experience. Customers will always pay for value. It’s what they’re looking for to improve their business whether it’s to increase revenues or profit, decrease operational expense, increase productivity, morale or market share. That’s what we give to our clients at NSA North Texas. Our goal for each and every meeting, Lab, CPE spotlight and special event is to bring you value to improve your business to your clients.
